This and That

Here’s a snippet of what we’ve been up to the last few weeks!

I visited the 9’s market with some lovely friends for the first time on a beautiful Spring-like day. It’s the equivalent of a farmer’s market just off base that happens on every “9” day of each month (9th, 19th, etc). It’s kind of awesome and I’m pretty sure I got the best apples I’ve ever had there!

Then we decided to check out the East coast for an afternoon which is like a ten minute drive from the base. It was freezing. And we weren’t dressed appropriately. Nor did we find the right location. It was therefore a short, albeit fun afternoon!

And then we had a little Thomas tea-time. Yes, my husband is a very good sport.

And then I took my first Japanese cooking class offered on base. Looking forward to trying these recipes out myself! We made miso soup, sushi, and cheese rolls.

And I’ve been helping our neighbors out by checking on their pup. So it’s also been a bit of Golden Retriever heaven in these parts.

And then another round of Japanese cooking instruction. We made miso soup and Japanese curry, and sampled other Japanese treats!

Then we rounded out last week with preparations for celebrating Easter. I made a lot of new recipes as we celebrated a traditional Jewish Seder meal in honor of Passover. Such a meaningful time seeing how Christ fulfilled the Seder as the perfect Passover Lamb! And a great weekend celebrating His defeat of death through the empty tomb!

Challah. This stuff went fast in our casa!

The snow has all but vanished and it’s appearing like April will bring Spring to stay here in Misawa! We’re putting away the sweaters (whilst crossing our fingers) and donning the light jackets. Enjoying this season of transition; in the weather and in all that the Lord is teaching our little family. Also anticipating the many adventures to come!
